Where am I headed?

What is the most important achievement/goal in my life?

  • We can only reach as high as we aim
  • Is the Lord really part of this picture?

In order to serve God I need to:

Acknowledge my need
Isaiah 55:1  Ho, every one that thirsteth, come ye to the waters, and he that hath no money; come ye, buy, and eat; yea, come, buy wine and milk without money and without price.2 Wherefore do ye spend money for that which is not bread? and your labour for that which satisfieth not? hearken diligently unto me, and eat ye that which is good, and let your soul delight itself in fatness. 3 Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live.

While a free gift, I do need to surrender my all to Him.

What are some of our thirsts?
Why do I thirst? – Before a thirst can be quenched, I need to know that I’m thirsty; where do I quench my thirst?

Our wants are as a result of no “inclining my ear to God”; Jeremiah 2:13  For my people have committed two evils; they have forsaken me the fountain of living waters, and hewed them out cisterns, broken cisterns, that can hold no water.

What does it mean to seek God?
Isaiah 55:6  Seek ye the LORD while he may be found, call ye upon him while he is near: 7 Let the wicked forsake his way, and the unrighteous man his thoughts: and let him return unto the LORD, and he will have mercy upon him; and to our God, for he will abundantly pardon.

I need to draw near to God, and that while there is still time.

1 Thessalonians 4:15  For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. 16  For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: 17  Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. 18 Therefore comfort one another with these words.

The above verse serves as a measure as to whether or not the Lord is important to us i.e. are we comforted by these words while at the same time encouraging others.

DO I BELIEVE THIS

God’s Way

  • For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, saith the LORD. For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts (Psalm 55:8-9)
  • God is true and everyone else a liar
  • Romans 1:22: Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools.
